I was employed full time in my 34th year at NBCUniversal when I became laid off involuntarily . I was working in the capacity as a broadcast engineer for Technical Operations Production Services (TOPS). I worked with videotape, and was the supervisor. My department was closed on December 21, 2012.
In January of 2003, I was appointed to be the NABET CWA Local 53 Member’s Assistance Program (MAP) Coordinator for our approximately 2,100 members. The MAP Program has taught me a lot about the inner workings of unions in general. I have taken many hours of MAP training in the areas of drugs and alcohol use and remediation, domestic violence, the Federal and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), Title 7 as it applies to the Civil Rights Act (1964), and psychological and behavioral concerns to better serve you. I also served a three year term as Vice President of NABET CWA Local 53, 2004 to 2007. I have returned to the MAP committee as of this January, 2011.
I have also worked as a production/maintenance engineer at WFRV-TV, Green Bay WI, WJMN-TV, Escanaba MI, WMTV, Madison WI and KNBC-TV, Mt Wilson CA. Since 1971 I have held a FCC First Class/General Radio Telephone License. For over 42 years, I have been a broadcast engineer.
I was first licensed as a ham radio operator at the age of 14. Amateur Radio gave me my start in Broadcasting. I currently hold an Advanced Class license.
In my home audio and video production studio, I make industrial and commercial voice overs. At my audio demo site, I invite you to review some of my past demonstration work.
I am a past President for Counseling Without Walls Foundation where we fought the number one cause of premature death, the stress of loneliness that manifests itself in alcohol, drugs, depression and suicide etc. We fought this by assisting people to develop a personal resource network of friends and activities. I produced and directed 98 live to tape informational psychology television programs out of the abundance of our relationships. One of my programs received an Emmy nomination for Best Cable Television Program. You can see it along with other projects I produced on the Lisa Kassner Videos page.
I have been involved in Christian Ministry. At Youth With A Mission (YWAM), I took Cross Roads training at Lake View Terrace CA. While working with YWAM, I co-produced, wrote and edited “Greater Than Gold”, the winner of the Golden Halo Award for (1985), a documentary on the Christian Olympic Outreach for 1984.
I assisted in the direction of Media FOCUS, a para-church ministry outreach to the entertainment industry where I produced, directed and engineered radio programs that aired on 13 stations nationally over a five year period for a total of more than 150 broadcasts. I coordinated The Producer-Directors-Writers Breakfast Meeting at the NBC Executive Dining Room where The Chronicles of Narnia production was birthed. I coordinated and recorded The Friday Night Out Meeting at the NBC Network Commissary. I published a four page monthly news letter for Media FOCUS that was distributed to our Christian Ministry.
